About us
Robin Grigsby - Director. Born in Kent, Robin joined the Royal Navy as an apprentice at the age of 16 years, ultimately qualifying as a Marine Engineer. After a short career of 18 years, he utilised his extensive technical and managerial skills in Devonport Royal Dockyard and ABB Turbochargers, where he was involved in Far Eastern and mainland European diesel construction and sales. In his spare time, he additonally attained the rank of Captain with the Light Infantry. Now married to Kim, Robin lives on site and firmly has his roots in the south west. Interests are motor cycling, grand children, weapons, travel to unusual destinations and Plymouth Argyle Football Club.
Ken Greenfield - Director. Born in Yorkshire close to Barnsley Football Club, Ken came to Cornwall at 16 years of age, joining the Royal Navy as an apprentice. This was a job that he left some 34 years later as a very experienced, some might say old, Commissioned Chief Engineer. Between then and Boating World, he worked as a Business Development Manager and Project Manager; experiences that he brings to the yard to ensure a professional approach to the yard business in general and solving the problems of our customers. Married to Jill, their home and family are all local to the area. Ken likes working at Boating World, but does find time to enjoy motor cycling, country life and travel.
Daniel Lewis - Dan Dan the Engine Man. Local to Landrake, Dan has been working with engines and in boatyards since leaving school. A skilled outboard technician, he is a certified Tohatsu, Mariner, Mercery, MerCruiser, Johnson & Evinrude Maintainer, but he will have a go at most things. If a customer has any technical issues to be addressed, Dan will be the guy who will render the assistance. With a young family, Dan still finds time to enjoy surfing and diving.
Jill Greenfield - Chandlery. Born in the west country, Jill was married to Ken "Before the old King died". Apart from bringing up two children and looking after the family affairs whilst Ken travelled the world, she worked in retail and marketing. Now full time at Boating World, undertaking the general office administration, she is evolving the Chandlery to suit our customers current needs. Grandchildren play a very important part in Jill's life, but she still finds time to shop and travel.
Kim Grigsby - Weekend Girl. Kim married Robin in 2007 in the local church at St Erney, where the ceremony was followed by the biggest boatyard party imaginable. Kim's full time employment is in banking, which keeps her very busy for the working week. However, she additionally provides full cover to the yard at weekends, when the rest of the team are taking some leisure time. Kim's Grandchild plays an important part in her life, but she tries to find time to read and travel, often in Robin's Landrover.
